CERTIFIED ORGANIC, HEIRLOOM SPINACH SEED, 1 packet (100 seeds)

Spinacia oleracea (43-55 days) A 1952 All-America Selections winner, this acclaimed heirloom variety is a high-quality, heat and drought-tolerant spinach that is slow to bolt. A great gardening choice for regions with hot and dry conditions. Well-suited for spring and fall sowing. Grows 8" tall with thick, deep-green, semi-savoyed leaves. Developed by the Dutch seedhouse N.V. Sluis en Groot. It's an open pollinated, compact, long-standing Bloomsdale type and can be used fresh or for freezing and canning. Also known as 'American Long Standing' and 'American'.

Growing Notes

Direct seed as soon as the soil can be worked, 4-8 weeks before last frost in spring. Or 6-8 weeks before first frost in late summer-early fall. Grows best in cooler temperatures as a spring or fall crop. Seeds germinate in 5-10 days with soil temps between 45-70°F. Plant 1/2” deep, 1” spacing, with row spacing of at least 18”. Thin to 4-6” apart.
