Fresh salsa is ideal for those who want something quick and bursting with crisp, refreshing flavors. This can be whipped up in no time using just a few basic garden ingredients. Tomatoes, onions, sweet bell peppers, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic… let’s get your salsa on!
The beauty of making fresh salsa is that you can adjust it to your liking. Like it spicy? Add more jalapeños. Prefer it with a little extra tang? Squeeze in some more lime juice or add some more cumin powder. Don't forget to taste as you go and make adjustments along the way to suite your palate!
Your Ultimate Fresh Salsa Recipe
3-4 cups fresh, chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
1-2 jalapenos to taste, minced (seeds removed)
1/4 cup vinegar
2 Tbsp lime juice
Optional: 1 avocado, diced
Optional: 1/4 cup black olives, diced
Optional: 1/4 cup sweet corn and/or black beans
Optional: cumin powder, to taste
Salt & pepper, to taste
Place all select ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. Refrigerate for a few hours to develop flavors. Strain and serve with chips, as a side dish to your favorite Mexican meals, or with grilled chicken!
