Solanum melongena (75-80 days) Open-pollinated Italian heirloom from Sicily. This mild-flavored, creamy eggplant is favored by chefs and market growers. Attractive rosy-lavender color with white shading, its large 4-6” round shape is perfect for slicing, baking and roasting. A common dish in Italian, Indian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine, offering many unique, delicious recipe options.

Growing Notes 
Sow seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost date in warm soil and a warm location. These heat loving plants germinate best at 85°F. Plant 1⁄4” deep in well drained soil. Can sow thickly in flats and transplant. Plant outdoors after danger of frost when daytime temps are near 70°F. Space 18- 24" between plants and 30-36" between rows. Optimal soil pH is 6.5-7. Eggplant is a heavy feeder but if over fertilized, they’ll grow lots of foliage but produce less fruit.
