Lychnis chalcedonica An easy-to-grow traditional cottage garden perennial, Burning Love is a compact version of the ‘Maltese Cross’. Growing 18-24" tall with large showy clusters of 20-50 brilliant red blossoms through June and July. Stunning when sown alongside white flowers. Blooms in the first year from seed. Bright scarlet red flowers! A hummingbird and bumblebee favorite.
Prefers full sun and well drained soils. Planting Depth: surface sown; press into soil; needs light to germinate. Plant spacing: 4-6 inches apart. Soil Temp. for Germ.: 60-70°F. Days to Germ.: 21 days. Moderate moisture. Full sun to light shade. Winter hardy to zone 3. Seed can also be fall planted, when it is too cold to germinate seeds and soil temperatures are below 45 degrees F; the seed will lay dormant through the winter.
