Unlock a world of flavor in winter with kitchen garden herbs at your fingertips!

"Hey there, even though it's January and the outside world is covered in snow and freezing cold, guess what? The days are actually getting longer! And you know what that means? It's time to start thinking about growing some awesome herbs from seed.

I know, it sounds crazy to be talking about gardening when it's chilly outside, but trust me, starting herb seeds indoors is a game-changer. A kitchen herb garden is a consistent source of inspiration as we gear up for another growing season. Who needs that store bought stuff?

Starting herb seeds indoors can be a rewarding and productive activity. Not only will you get to enjoy them in your kitchen in winter-- you'll be gearing up for spring at the same time! AND by starting your herbs from seed, you don’t have to be constrained to the choices available at the greenhouses this spring! Let's dive in and get those green thumbs working!

  • Cilantro: Cilantro is a popular herb known for its fresh and citrusy flavor. To grow cilantro from seed ow the seeds directly into the soil, about 1/4 inch deep, and water gently. Keep the soil consistently moist until the seeds germinate, which usually takes around 7-10 days. Once the seedlings are a few inches tall, thin them out to provide enough space to grow. (Don't forget to wash and use the thinnings as a garnish!) Harvest the leaves when they reach the desired size, and enjoy the vibrant taste in your culinary creations. Also, an excellent microgreen!
